Jeeps For Sale and Jeep Parts For Sale - 1976 Jeep CJ5

1976 Jeep CJ5

This Jeep was a complete frame off restoration and customization in 1996, the gentlemen I bought it from built it for truck shows, he was fanatical in rebuilding it. He showed it for 15 years and between him and I, it only has 11,800 miles since the rebuild. The last show it was in was the Carlisle Truck Nationals in 2012 right before I bought it. I’ve owned it for 5-years and it is an awesome Jeep.

The Body is all Fiberglass with a 1-piece front end that can be tilted back or front and easily unpinned and removed all together, it was painted "96" Ford Mustang GT purple in 1996 …it still looks great but does have a few nicks and scratches in the paint here and there. The windshield frame along with the dash panel are steel. The dash has the optional factory tach and clock, all gauges work except the clock.

The powedercoated roll cage was custom made and drops through the body to bolt right to the frame on 6 custom made mounts. The Jazz made front seats then bolt directly to the cage on adjustable seat tracks, the factory rear seat bolts to the body.

The 304 AMC C.I. engine block was bored .030 over and has slightly higher than stock compression, it has a Lunati solid lifter cam with .517 lift on the intake and .526 on the exhaust, duration is 300 on the intake and 310 on the exhaust, Sound is Great. The heads were machined for screw in studs and have aluminum Pro-Form rocker arms. The intake is a Rare factory "R4B" aluminum intake with a Holley 4150 HP 650 CFM 4 corner idle carb. The distributor is a HEI type made by Davis Unified Ignition "DUI". It has a factory power steering and pump setup on it. Valve covers are vintage Offenhauser, Headers are ceramic coated – two sets – Loud and medium.

The Transmission is a factory AMC T-150 3-speed and factory DANA 20 transfer case, the clutch is made by Centerforce. A factory Mopar Hurst pistol grip was custom fit the original 3-speed shifter.
The back rear is a narrowed DANA 60 with 4:10 gears and a Posiunit with 11" drum brakes, the front rear is a factory DANA 30 also with 4:10 gears and factory "79" style disc brakes.

The frame is perfect/solid, sandblasted and painted. It had a professional custom (not a kit) front shackle inversion swap and makes it ride better than any other CJ Jeep I’ve rode in. The suspension is a Skyjacker soft ride and shocks with a 2" longer custom made heavy duty shackles. The rears still sit on top of the springs and have not been flipped.

The tire size is 12.50X36X15 Super Swamper Radials on Centerline 15X8.5" rims.

Every Nut and Bolt on the Jeep was replaced with either stainless steel or cadium plated grade 8 in the suspension.

The Jeep has 11,825 miles on it since it was rebuilt in 1996, about 1,000 miles are mine since I bought it in 2012 (avg. 200 miles a year). I only drove it in the summer and for pleasure, it gets attention everywhere I drive it. Always stored inside, soft top and bikini top.
