1986 CJ-7 full frame-off restoration

In the past we've had a number of true off-roading Jeeps but we wanted to try something different and go for more of a "show" Jeep that we love but unfortunately a few family issues are forcing us to sell her.

Here's the long and short.

1986 CJ-7 taken down to the frame. The frame and pretty much everything underneath has been painted or powder coated as you can see from the pics. I won't list every single item but the highlights are:

Hardtop and hard side doors. Stock undercarriage with Dana 30 Front, Dana 20 Rear, Borg Warner T-4 Manual Transmission and Dana 300 Transfer Case. 3.50 gears running on 33x10.00R17 BF Goodrich Mud Terrain T/A KM2 tires and 17" X 9", 5 (x5.5 bolt pattern) Classic Baja Lock Wheels all with less than 300 miles on them. Some of the pics are with the old tires and wheels but they were too wide for my taste so we bought and installed the BFGs.

New (two months old) 2.5 inch ProComp lift kit with new shocks. I know ProComp gets some bad press but I've always been pleased with them for "regular guy" off-roading and of course it works just fine with what is mostly a show Jeep.

Too many details to mention but you can see the condition is incredible and the underside looks as nice as the rest of it. The Jeep has power brakes, braided brake lines, leather front and rear seats from a newer Wrangler with "Jeep" stitched into them, new carpet, new gauges, headlights, taillights, gas tank, sending unit, rear gate rubber seals -- the list goes on.

The engine is a 355 ci Chevy built by the late Dale Earnhardt Senior's Director of Engine Development, James "Spenny" Clendenen. I've not "hammered" on this Jeep at all in part because I don't drive that way I've just always liked the sound of a strong V-8 Jeep with side pipes so that was the main interest. The motor has less than 3,000 miles on it.

It gets a lot of attention when we're out because of the look and the sound and recently took 2nd place in the local Northern Virginia "Classic" Jeep category. It's been in the garage since March when we brought it home save for the aforementioned car shows and a couple of laps around the neighborhood every once in a while to keep the seals lubricated.

I know you never recoup what you spent so I'll entertain other offers so just ask.
